Welcome to Snowise

The village has a wide variety of small shops, many selling local produce and specialities. There is a very good market on Wednesday mornings. The three supermarkets are ideal for those self-catering and have large selections of the basic as well as the more exotic foods.
	The Haute-Savoie is well known for its cuisine and the twenty or so restaurants in the area cater for all depths of pocket. Three particular favourites of ours are Les Cornettes, Le Fiacre and Le Pierrier. All offer excellent value for money and provide a wide selection of local as well as national dishes. Les Cornettes is nationally renowned and in recent years has been awarded a gold medal by the French Tourist Board and the extensive menu at Le Fiacre is ideal for groups and families whose requirements may be diverse.
Snowise is pleased to work closely with the Châtel Tourist Office to produce a weekly programme in English of events and activities in the village. Visitors will also find our translation of the weather forecast displayed at Chalet Les Chouettes and in the Tourist Office each morning. Snowise also provides a twice-weekly English language information spot on Radio Châtel (98.8 fm).
	There are two cinemas showing up to date films with a daily change of programme; there is usually one film in English each week. Ten-pin bowling is very popular as are the numerous small bars, notably the Avalanche and Le Tunnel, both of which keep a stock of ‘proper beer’ in case you should suffer from withdrawal symptoms! A free bus runs to most parts of the village from 8.30 am until 8 pm every day for the convenience of visitors.
